Newell p50

The p50 is Newell's current body style. It arrived for the 2017 model year, Newell's 50th year, with exterior styling done with Porsche Design. Each p50 is custom built on Newell's own chassis. The p50 listings read for this record, from model years 2020 to 2028, are all 45-foot coaches with four slide-outs and a 605-horsepower Cummins engine.

About this model

Newell announced the p50 Edition in mid-2016. Family RVing reported that every 2017 model-year coach would have the new styling, and RV Life quoted Newell as saying talks with Porsche Design had begun three years earlier, with more than a year spent on the styling itself. The front cap gained a spoiler and a full-width windshield, with new chrome headlight housings. Flush-mounted doors replaced surface-mounted ones. Push-button door latches, a power entry door and a remote-controlled shore power cord were added, along with the Intrepid coach management system. RV Life gave the size range as 39 to 45 feet.

An owner site, NewellOwner.com, says the first p50 was coach 1600, a 2017 show coach. Family RVing published a road test of a 45-foot p50 in December 2017. It had a 605-horsepower Cummins X15 engine, an Allison 4000 MH six-speed automatic transmission, ZF active air suspension and a 20-kilowatt Martin generator. The magazine gave the price as about $2.1 million fully equipped.

Later published figures vary. RV PRO described a p50 as worth $2 million in January 2020, and Family RVing gave a range of $2.4 million to $2.7 million in December 2022. None of these is a base price, because each coach is priced to its buyer's choices.

Newell's equipment page, read in October 2026, does not name a model year. It lists the Cummins X15 at 605 horsepower and 1,950 pound-feet of torque, an Allison HD4000MH six-speed transmission, a 200-gallon fuel tank, 143-gallon fresh water and holding tanks with 184 gallons optional, a 20-kilowatt generator, six lithium house batteries and two Victron 5,000-watt inverters. It gives the width as 102 inches and the height as 161 inches.

Most year records here are single coaches taken from Newell's own listings. A listing shows how that one coach was built. It does not show what every coach had that year.
